Sider Voivoda Folklore Company

Folklore Company Sider Voivoda is an amateur folk group, which consists of an orchestra of folk instruments, a choir and a dance group. The three parts interact to create an unforgettable performance of ethnic rhythms, movements and melodies. Our main purpose is to preserve and enrich the traditional art of folklore – music, dances and songs.

Bulgarian Folklore Company Sider Voivoda is the successor of Folklore Ensemble Sider Voivoda which was established in 1953 in the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa. In 2001 the members of the folklore group left the Cultural Centre they belonged to and today they exist under the name of Folklore Company Sider Voivoda.

In 2002 they formed a new Cultural Centre which established itself as one of the main cultural organization in North Bulgaria.

The repertoire of Folklore Company Sider Voivoda covers folklore works from all Bulgarian ethnographic areas: Mizia, Trakia, Shopsko, Dobroudzha, Pirinsko, Rodopsko.

Through the years Folklore Company Sider Voivoda has performed on many stages all around Europe, Asia and Africa acquainting people with the richness of Bulgarian voices and the beauty of Bulgarian dances and costumes.
