Triangle Folklore Festival 2007

Triangle Folklore Festival, the greatest festival of its kind in Denmark, are taking place for the 5th time in the cities Vejle, Kolding, Fredericia, Aarhus and Odense in the period from the 3rd to the 12th of August 2007

Like the previous festivals we have gathered a selection of the best folklore groups in the world for 10 days filled with colours and festivity. We are proud to be able to present more than 300 dancers and musicians from 12 different countries from 3-4 continents.

We will give the audience a lot of experience, they will have an opportunity to learn exciting dances from all of the groups participating – or an opportunity to lean back and enjoy a fantastic show of dance and music at the three Folklore Gala-shows.

The first Triangle Folklore Festival took place in the cities Vejle, Kolding and Fredericia in Denmark in the year 1995.

The initiative was taken from a group called Rejseholdet, a group of young dancers and musicians, who has been travelling around the world for some years with shows of Danish folkdance and folk music. The group had often been asked about folklore festivals in Denmark. Together with locale folkdance groups from the cities they started to organize the first Triangle Folklore Festival.

The poster of the festival, which has been characterizing the festival ever since, is made of the local artist Asbjørn Lønvig from the town Hedensted.

There has been arranged Triangle Folklore Festival four times in the years 1995, 1998, 2001 and 2004.

At all of these festival we have had participation of fantastic folklore groups from all over the world. These folklore groups have filled public squares in the cities with colourful folklore performances, which has been a great pleasure to the local people.

The climax of the festivals has been the great Gala Shows, which has taken place in The Music theatre in Vejle and Kolding. In the year 2001 the festival expanded with a Gala-tour in Århus and Odense, where the Gala-shows where shown in Music Theatre in Århus and The Concert hall of Odense.
