5th International Folklore Festival Danetzare 2007
Erfurt, Germany
July 12 - July 16, 2007

Especially charming and humane are the words people used to describe Elizabeth when she was still a child at the Eisenach Court – always merciful and nice to the others around her. The Thuringian Folklore Ensemble in Erfurt will reproduce this with its group of children and show the endearing child Elizabeth playing with her friends and meeting poor farmer’s kids whom she includes in this game. The rose will play an important role symbolically.

To this day Elizabeth is especially venerated in her native land of Hungary. The people are proud that she is a born Hungarian. The Folklore Ensemble together with a Hungarian group would like to take appropriate consideration of this special aspect as part of the festival. The participation of a folklore group from Erfurt’s partner city Györ and another ensemble will make the dancing at the Danetzare festival astonishing. This should remind audiences of where Elizabeth of Thuringia came from. The high artistic standards and the quality of the programme with its combination of music, dance, song and traditional costumes will define the character of the festival.
