Talpra Magyar Hungarian Folk Ensemble

Description:

The Talpra Magyar Hungarian Folk Ensemble is a chamber group dedicated to teaching and performing authentic Hungarian dances from the Carpathian Basin.

The group's goal is to present a set of living traditions that date back hundreds of years and offer a glimpse into a broader European dance and musical culture, which by now mostly disappeared, but in Eastern Europe weathered the storms of history and survived the effects of modernization and urbanization.

The group is based in Manhattan, NY and consists of four couples with extensive dance experience coming from Hungary and Hungarian minority groups in neighboring countries.
