3-rd Seminar of Choreography - Romanian folk dances 2 - 11 July, 2007
Place Timisoara, Romania Description The 3-rd Seminar of Choreography (with international participation) will be held in Timisoara, Romania, between the 2nd and 11th of July 2007. This seminar addresses to all those who are interested in learning Romanian folk dances as well as to dancers and assistant choreographers. The dance classes will be given by important Romanian choreographers with an excellent activity in this domain (3 from Banat, 2 from Transilvania, 1 from Oltenia, 1 from Muntenia, 1 from Moldavia and 1 from Dobrogea). They will bring at the dance classes instrumentalists and dancers from their Ensembles, who will demonstrate dances from the folkloric zone from which they are teaching. At the suggestion of the participants who were present at the previous editions of the Seminar, in 2007 we intend to have some theoretical classes (lectures) too (2 -4 hours) with the following themes: - Modalities of using the Romanian folklore on stage - Romanian customs and traditions - Methods of research and utilization of the choreographic folklore - Dance-music-“strigaturi”(witty couplets) - costume relation Besides the material taught at the course, each of the professional choreographers will make a choreographic suite from the zone that they are presenting using dances taught at the course. Two or three of these choreographic suites, learned at the dance classes, will be performed by the participants of the seminar during the closing ceremony of the Festival. The costumes and musical accompaniment will be provided by us. (Ensemble “Timisul”) The Seminar is scheduled to coincide with The Festival of Hearts. This International Folklore Festival that we organize and coordinate will take place in Timisoara, Romania, in the period 4 – 8 July 2007 and will gather together more than 30 folkloric groups from Romania and abroad. The participants to the Seminar will have free access at the performances of the Festival as well as to make recordings. We have also scheduled meetings with assistant-choreographers and interpreters and conclusions after each evening performance. The daily program of the Seminar: - Dance classes each day between 10,00 – 13,00 and 16,00 – 18,00 except July, the 5th in the afternoon, when the opening parade for the Festival takes place and the morning of Sunday 8th July , when the groups attending the Festival will be performing at The Banat Village Museum. - 19,30 – 23,30 – ( in the period 4 – 8 July 2007 ) attendance at the Festival performances . The cost for the 10 days of the Seminar is either: - 600E/person – accommodation in Hotel*** - 420E/person – accommodation in hostels The price includes all the expenses of the participants to the Seminar: - board and lodgings , - transport from and to the Timisoara International Airport, - attendance at all the performances of the Festival, - payment of the teachers, - excursion in the region - in Timisoara and its surroundings.
